Eco-basement exhbition – in an new film

An exhibition carried out in Telšiai by the Semiotics Research Centre has been captured on film. From now on, anyone can visit this exhibition, hear what kind of effect the exhibition had on its participants.

The half-hour long film Telšiai locals and others who came specially for the exhbition from outlying regions, note that that eco-art is a source of ideas which both – inspires and makes you think. You can see the film here.

 
Network in Italy

Within the Eco-Creativity project AGAT created a network with the association REFUGEE SCART and on the morning of May Tuesday 28th some AGAT members were greeted by one of the managers, the German Helga Baker, who told how the idea was born and showed laboratory spaces provided by the EUR Municipality of Rome.

REFUGEE SCART is an humanitarian project of the SPIRAL Foundation Onlus, it was born in the summer of 2011 and it has two main objectives: the social cohesion and the preservation of nature through recycling . Thanks to the project the refugees, mostly Africans in search of protection,  are in condition to be seen not as a "burden for the society" but as a "resource" in the society.

Patchwork workshop in Kırkyama

Olur Halk Eğitimi Merkezi has organized two weeks workshop in Kırkyama, Turkey. The aim of the workshop is emphasizing the pollution that results due to used clothes and  fabrics an integral part of daily life. The resulting work indicates that newspapers and magazines, discarded after reading, can be used in the process of creativity of work of art with the logic of eco-creativity. Works have been made of scissors, old fabrics, pencil, yarns of the different colors, ribbons of the various colors.

Whatever it is called in the world, the name of patchwork included all the fabric joining activities and this work was turned into an art all over the world. It is an artwork which is modeled by the imagination of the sewer himself. With Patchwork bedspreads, pike, duvets, cushions, pillows, seat shawls, living room sets, kitchen and bathroom accessories, baby accessories, bags, vests, jackets, glasses and phone covers are sewed.They are adorned by flandras and laces; finally creative and unique artworks come out.

 
Eco-art is attractive to seniors as well

Many think that exhibitions of eco-art in which you can see works of art produced from re-purposed, recycled or reused materials are a topic interesting only for the youths. While seniors are supposed to be more accepting of the traditional forms of art – painting or sculpture. This stereotype was completely destroyed in Telšiai, Lithuania, where seniors made up the biggest part of the visitors to the one day exhibition of eco-art.

„It was completely opposite than our exhibition in Vilnius, where the majority of the visitors where youngsters. We were pleasantly surprised by how bright and informed about environmental affairs these seniors were“, says one of the organizers of the exhibition Martynas Norbutas.

How to make a book?
On 25th of January the Semiotics Research Center, Sustainable Development Institute and "Žali.LT" invited everyone looking for a way to spend their Friday evening to take part in an eco-workshop to make books from discarded pieces of paper. The participants used any useless pieces of paper, old newspapers and especially print waste from offices to make new and unique notebooks.
